Laptop to save space.

Can I pick up a used laptop to simply give me a monitor that doesn't take up so much space?

I recently saw a setup where the guy had a laptop where his monitor should have been. Said he rigged it instead of going out and buying a slick new Flat Screen Monitor. The cool thing was that he could still use both his keyboard and the laptop's keyboard in case he was standing up...was really weird but it worked like a charm. :eek:
 
I'd go with an lcd, you can probably get one for the same, or at least close to the same price of a used notebook. I use a notebook myself, and I find it eats up just as much deskspace as my CRT. The only reason I use it (other than for my live rig), is because I have a small tracking space and its nice and quiet. ;)
