hello
I recently talked to some guy who said that he used a couple of those lapel microphones from radio shack to record his drums (as well as an SM58 for the bass drum). Here is an excerpt from what he said:
>I bought them at RadioShack, but they are >infact made bt someone else
>GENEXXA 33-3003 OMNIDIRECTIONAL.
>We only have basic drums (tom and snare) so >I actually tape them to the shells, but I've >used them to record a complete kit. They're >really small, about the size of tip on a >drum stick. Tape them to a couple of stands >and place them halfway between the cymbals >and drum heads. You'll have to experiment a >bit, obviously. I also use a mic(SM58) for >the bass drum for a bit more control.
Has anyone else used this approach?
