Kustom was big in the late 60's and 70's, their trademark was metalflake tuck-n-roll covering, rather than tolex. We lusted after them, back in the day, but frankly now I can only wonder, "Why?" In retrospect, they were just okay solid-state amps, but remember this was when everybody was going ga-ga over freakin' solid state amps, and tube amps were being parked in the basement or back of the garage and forgotten- or worse.

As is often the case, somebody resurrected the brand name, but of course that is the extend of the "legacy," such as it is. From my experience auditioning the "new" Kustom stuff, it's about middle of the road, made in China cookie-cutter stuff- but I have not played either of those particular heads and cabs.

Sorry if I am Donny Downer, but I am just not overly impressed with Kustom's stuff.

Yeah, there is that. But if it's crap (not saying it is, just sayin') then even a cheap price is too much, knowwhatImean?

True dat! and I just realized the $199 deal is a 1x12 cabinet... so that explains some of the price. Man I just missed a 100w crate 1/2 stack for $200 on CL...

I played the 4x12 cab - it sounds pretty damn good and $400 is decent price I think - still a bit more than I want to spend ATM
