Keyboard magazine just reviewed the Kurzweil PC3 and gave it the ultimate thumbs up. They could not say enough good things about it. The only keyboard which could do something more was the OAYSIS which costs several thousand dollars more.


Interestingly, Kurzweil happened to run a new ad in this same issue of a new 61-note version which they are calling the PC361. Prior to, there was only the 88-weighted key and 76-semi weighted editions.

But strangely enough, the picture of the new machine only has 60 notes, not 61. The highest note in the photograph is a B6, not C7. ???

And, there's no information yet on Kurzweil's website. It must be a mock-up photo by the marketing department, with a glaring mistake made in its construction.

I'd be much interested in this new machine, and am wondering what the price is going to be. Hopefully, and probably, $400 to $500 less than the 76-key, which would mean you could get the latest Kurzweil for under $1,900. Current MSRP and respective street prices on the current lineup are:

I saw some demo videos on YouTube. It looks fantastic. At first I thought it was a small upgrade to the PC2 (I run a PC2R module), but it seems like so much more.

I'm not certain, but I think the K2600 probably has some more advanced features (sampling, at the least, in most models), but I've never had my hands on either.

We no longer have any Kurzweil dealers in Rhode Island, or at least nearby in Massachusetts or Connecticut.

You are correct on all points.

The K26000 has Sampling and RAM which the PC3 does not.

St. Louis has no Kurzweil dealers, either.

Sweetwater.com is a fantastic company to deal with. They support their product sales long after the sale. Forever, in the case of Kurzweil. Don't be afraid to call them up on the phone and negotiate a much better price than their advertised price.

The review in Keyboard lists the differences between the two Kurzweils. I don't have $5,000 to spend, but if and when Kurzweil adds sampling, Ram, hard drives and the latest USB 3.0, to this new iteration (PC3), they should call it a K3000 - an extremely long overdue and anticipated workstation.

Meanwhile, they call the PC3 the ultimate gigging machine.
 
I just got one, B stock.
It won't replace my K2600R for sampling, but for live work, OMG, it soooooooo very sweet.

Run, do not walk, and try out one of these. You will NOT be disappointed.

You say you run a PC2R Module. What do you think of it? I may have an opportunity to pick one up for $599.00. I'm just trying to decide what I would get rid of (I have a ton of synths and modules).
