Hi all-

Ive been demoing a set of RP-8's for about 2 months now. I've been listening to them against my V8's and the other monitors I use often. These are new units with all the packaging, info cards, whatever else is in the double boxes as shipped to me from KRK. Asking $370 plus shipping for the pair ($185 ea) and I'll include a couple quality cables as a bonus.

Mike, I know you work with audio hardware, so i would like to know your opinion...

Which monitors do you recommend that cost $300 (for the pair)?

I know everyone says "Go, check them out at the music store", but I have no experience, so i´ll be hard to choose the winner just by A/B them...

Can you help me? :)
 
I demoed a set of RP5's with my stuff for about 6 months or so off and on and found that while they were not deep on the bass end, I could get very decent mixes from them and hear everything I needed to hear. I have not been as satisfied with other monitors in that range that Ive tried.

Some people say good things about the old Alesis Monitor One -passive model- (the grey ones)... Do you used/heared them?
 
well passive is a different story, but then you have to add in the cost of a decent refrence amp to power them, which will bump up your total cost a couple hundred dollars.
 
No problem, Mike... What´s your advice on passive monitors in that price range? I may get an amp for cheap/almost free... Any recommendations?
