KRK Rokit 5, G2...on or off?

I'm a bit confused, I emailed KRK support and they told me it was fine to turn my speakers off each night when I'm done using them and to power up the next afternoon (sometimes in the morning) to be used again.

But I went to the local music store and there were different answers, turning on and off damages them (like a computer), but leaving on can cause things to overheat which is bad for any electronic (and can cause it to attract dust?)

Not really sure what to do? They do make a soft pulse when turning off (even when nothing is connected) and the lights on the front fade out slowly. Not sure if this will damage them?...you would think they'd design them so it wouldnt happen or at least include instructions on what to do

Just need some guidance on this subject, thanks!

edit: Just wanted to add some detail if it would help with any advice:
This is my own personal workstation not a 24/7 studio. I typically use them 11AM-12PM randomly during the day, but sometimes I will go a day or two without using them. The output of my interface is connected to the speakers (apogee duet) and all my equipment is 1 way into the input of the interface.
(just added this information in case it could give any incite on anything)

I turn mine off at the end of the night/day. It has been my thoughts that when amps and speakers are left on, the speakers are always working. Whether you can hear it or not, low level hiss/noise is being reproduced by the speakers. They are mechanical devices.

Look at it like a car. Every mile that you drive is one less mile you car is going to go.

Might not matter, but it saves electricity bill a tiny bit. My monitors always power off softly so I don't worry about any pops or whatever.

Theres no hard drive or memory to fry - turning them on and off is not a hazard "like a computer" - as much as a hazard as that might be... I turn my KRK6's off everynight

Why leave somthing on full power if you're not using it ?

I turn mine off. There's nothing saying not to in the manual......

Turn off when not in use or they will overheat - and just waste power... Always turn them on last after you have powered up everything and off first before you turn the rest off...

I put my KRK V8 Series 2 on a power bar. I hear a relatively loud squeak when I turn off the power bar or when I unplug one of the monitors from it. I also wonder if this causes wear on any electronics.

I'm guessing that in the 4 1/2 years since this thread was active everybody has figured out that turning their active monitors off won't hurt anything.

I've always turned off my monitors, we'll all my gear for that matter, even my computer when I'm finished with it...
I can't see leaving all that stuff on and hot while it's not being used...
Hmmm...

Yeah. Thanks to Sprout for bringing it up tho.

:)

Hey man, welcome to the forum. I can only guess you found us by a Google or whatever search.

There is no issue with turning them off. Save power. :)
