Been searching online and not really finding what I'm looking for. Please respond with what software you have found the Korg nanokontrol compatible with as well as what it doesn't work with. Great place to get list together for any potential shoppers interested in buying this item.. Hell for the price, its toooo tempting to let it accidentally fall into your shopping card without doing your homework first. (thats how I aquired mine)

I got it this weekend and use it with Samplitude 10. Love the transport section but i still have a problem with the individual channels. I've managed to assign them al in the DAW and they do work, but the scenes keep shifting for some unknown reason. If for example, I'm operating the channels in scene 1 and switch to scene 3, when I switch back to scene 1, the channel group starts on track 20 instead of track 1 in the DAW. I must have orverlooked something while assigning the functions. And my other problem is, I don'know how to programme it using the Korg Editor that comes with it.
Recording with it is really nice though, and you definitely can't beat the price.
On the Korg website you can download settings for Cubase, Logic, Ableton, etc.

It should work with any software that supports standard MIDI controllers. (Which is pretty much...every DAW software out there)

I have the padKontrol and it's GREAT. I thought about getting the nanoPad but I came across a deal on the padKontrol that I COULDN'T resist.

the pads send basic note information to the host (like a keyboard's black and white keys) and the roll/flam pad just sends the same note multiple times to produce the repeating sound. Everything else is programmed with the Korg editor software, which is easy to use once you wrap your head around it.

For $60 bucks....what a STEAL!! :D

That's what the heck I'm trying to figure out with the Korg Editor. How do you programme it? It all seems japanese to me and I don't understand what I should do. I figured out how to assign the functions of my DAW without even reading the manual using the learn function, but I can't figure out how to do it in the editor.

Ok, back from work :D

Well, I was going to attach the help file that comes with the nanoSERIES installer, but apparently it's too big.

Anyway, if you go HERE: http://korg.com/SupportResults.aspx?productid=415 and click on downloads you'll find the Korg Kontrol Editor. (almost at the bottom of the list.)

You've probably already downloaded that seeing as you mentioned the editor, but there is a detailed PDF help file that explains EVERYTHING. Page 7 gets into the details of scene editing.

Basically, you can program each pad and the X-Y axes of the roll/flam pad to trigger whatever you'd like then save it to one of four scenes for later use. If I understand it right, you click on a pad in the software and can then tell it which midi note/function, midi channel, etc to send to the daw.

I have the padKontrol so it's a little different, but this mostly looks like the same way to use the editor.

There are also tons of YouTube videos on the nanoseries and the padkontrol. My favorites are from this guy: https://www.youtube.com/user/Stray411

I hope that helps somewhat. I wish I had the nanopad so I could help you a little better. Maybe someone else can chime in?

Good luck! :D

OK, I've got it working perfectly now. I found out why the scenes were shifting. In Samplitude when assigning the number of tracks, you have to click the total number of all 4 scenes. In the editor I only retrived and saved the settings I assigned to the controller. Now it's working great and I'm really enjoying working with it. At the price it sells, I would recommend it to anybody.

faders

JoeyM, do you use the nanoKontrol for mixing? If so, how are the faders? I ordered one today. It's getting great reviews and I'm excited about not mixing with a mouse anymore.

I find them pretty good, quite comfortable to work with. In the Korg editor you can programme their attack in some way. I haven't bothered because I like them the way they are. They feel a bit more precise than the mouse. For such a simple and cheap controller the whole thing is also pretty stable. For its price, it's definitely a grab.
