If the Korg D8 has a SCSI output does that mean it can go directly to an external CD burner with a SCSI input? If not does that mean I would need to buy a computer to burn a CD? I tend to move around a lot and want this whole thing to be as mobile as possible.

Quinus,

Got your e-mail about this, but thought I'd post the reply here so all could benefit. The Korg D8 does not have a direct to CD-R recording capability through its SCSI port. This port can be used to attach a removable media device (such as Zip or Jazz drives) and external SCSI Hard Drives. You can, however, record direct to a standalone CD-R (such as one made by Phillips) using the SPDIF optical port on the Korg D8. By the way, the new Korg D16 can record straight to a CD-R through its SCSI port. See the specs at the Korg website.

I like the portability and sound quality of my D8. I then mixdown to my computer using the SPDIF out on it to an SPDIF in on my soundcard. I can than use different software packages to master the recording to my computer's CD-R.

Hope this helped...Happy Recording!
