Hi everyone,
I have been checking out the Korg D4 for a few days now and feel it's pretty much what I need as a novice guitar player to get a few ideas recorded, play around and upload them on the computer. Now most of the units of that size allow you to use batteries OR AC power. That would be nice since I want to carry it with me. The website doesnt seem to mention if it can actually take batteries so I was wondering if anyone can confirm that for me.

Also, has anyone tried/reviewed/comments/suggest other alternatives?

Thank you very much for your time. I appreciate

thanx to those who read. I'm still having a really hard time finding independent reviews on this. Maybe because it's a relatively new product...

I'm pretty sure the D4 doesn't run on batteries. You might try sending Demensia a PM. He owns one. I use the PXR4 Pandora quite a bit, which is very similar, and does run on batteries. I have played around with the D4, and much of the software appears to be the same as what is in the Pandora. The use of Smart Media limits you to 90 track minutes in high resolution, which I think is the main reason for introducing the D4, to use more state of the art removeable media. For the uses I want it for, the PXR4 is the better machine. Of course, you can rig up the D4 to run off of any 12 volt battery by using a power invertor, which will decrease portability a bit. The D4 also has an XLR input, which the Pandora doesn't. I have learned to work around that by using a powered stereo mic, and good dynamics with a low-z to high-z transformer. If you want a really small battery powered 4-tracker, I strongly recommend grabbing a PXR4 while they are still out there. I can tell you how to do a bunch of stuff with it.-Richie
