A friend is offering to sell me a Kord D32xd with the ACB8, AIB8, & DIB8 for around $2300... pretty good price for it all. I have checked all the stats on it and it seems to be a pretty good system. Can anyone give me input that has experience with it on the pros & cons. I was planning building a new system recording and mixing all on a PC so this is a different direction for me. I will take it if it seems to be the better route.

Its definately a nice machine. pro's, it's mobile, touch screen, and has a control surface to work with, plenty of inputs, plenty of hard drive space. cons, more limited track count at highest sample rate, limited expandability ( looks as though its pretty much expanded already), limited mastering ability (though does relatively reasonable job), Editing is more of a chore than pc, No real bussing features

There are reasons to go with both pc/mac or stand alone. I can say this though the Korg is pretty stable and built well and it would probably be alot cheaper than getting that many I/o for a computer

i dont technically need that many inputs... I was looking at getting an RME card and then using a couple Focusrite OctoPre LE 8-Channel preamps.... Now I can use my computer for the mastering so that would not be an issue... I don't want "decent" equipment, I want to do the job right...

Well the D32X sells for $2399 itself but I don't think the are for sale anymore.
The ACB-8 Analog Compressor is $319,
the AIB8, 8 more channels is $279 and the DIB8, ADAT goes for $139.

If you add all that up it = $3,136.

The question is do you really need all those options? Maybe the ACB-8 would be a nice option.
I own a D1600 and really like it. I use it allot. Perhaps the only negative thing I can say about it is the Preamps are not that good. I had to purchase an outboard preamp to get the sound I needed.

I don't know if they changed the preamps on the D32X. You can go to the Korg Forums and ask away.

The pres on the XDs are supposed to be better than the pres on the D1600

However, it is worth mentioning that the XD series have been discontinued by Korg.

It is a huge bummer.

Korg will still honer warrantees and offer support and that said the quality of the existing XDs is still the same as it ever was.

Yeah I noticed they stopped making them. And 2300 for the full package doesn't seem to be too bad of a price. I'm just trying to decide if this is the route I want to go as I was planning on going "only computer" route
