I am currentley thinking of purchasing a Korg D16 multi-traker. I would like anyone's opinions on this or any other alternatives that I should look into. Is it as good as they say and is there a new Korg to be be released soon?

i doubt it can reccord 16 tracks at once... that'd be something i wouldn't like, but otherwise from what i've heard it's an alright recorder

Good choice. I have a D16 and it works great. The touch screen is a time saver and very intuitive. You can record 8 tracks at once (or 4 tracks) depending if your are using 16 bit or 24 bit recording mode. I mostly use 16 as it is uncompressed and clean. I mix directly to the d16 now and don't use my roland mixer anymore, besides in comparision the mixer is noisy. FX are truly outstanding. I back up to a zip 250 drive. Very clean sound and it can Burn directly to CD (I hope to pick up a Yamaha CD burner shortly).

Just got back from the Korg page.
Looks like a great unit!
I went from cassette to 1/2 inch analog 8track to VS880 to VS1680, Roland unit.
I love it. This doesn't look alot different.
If Ron likes it than I'm sure it's good.
I can't see why anyone would want someone to buy a lemon. Check them all out though.
I would start with a 4 track first though. Maybe cassette. Until you get the recording idea down. Unless you have done the time already.
