I'm new.
I have two tracks I'd like to combine; either to a new track, or one or the other of the current tracks.
I can't find any instructions on it. Is it possible?
All the selection and copying and pasting I've seen referred to is destructive.
Also; how do you speed up or slow down a song?

Thanks

Neil

G'day Neil.

I have a D8, but I'm assuming they're gonna be similar.
It sounds like what u want to do is 'mixdown' 2 tracks to 1; is that right?
If so, u set the tracks u want to 'Playback' and then u set the 'destination' track (that's the one u want to record to...) to 'Record". Pan the playback tracks to where u want 'em to be in the mix and hit 'Record' & 'Play'.
That's the simplified version. It should all be in the manual... (you did get a manual with the D16 didn't you?)
... otherwise there's a D16 users forum at
www.egroups.com/messages/KorgD16/
There will be a Frequently asked Questions page or u can just ask any advise. These people are all D16 users.
Hope this helps.

Cheers

Thanks Macca. I'll try that.
I did get a manual, but it's not very impressive.
It refers only to Bouncing (not 'mixdown') and implies that you Bounce for the final mix only from 16-channels down to 2 - it has been pointed out in another forum that you can actually Bounce FROM less than 16 tracks by selecting them, but you still can only bounce TO two tracks.
I'll try your idea and see if it works.
Does the D8 distinguish between Input and Bounce Record modes, or do you just press Record in Input mode?

Neil,

There is no real difference between 'bouncing' or 'mixing down'; all you are doing is recording whats on 1 or more tracks to another track or tracks. (*You can 'mixdown' to just 1 track, but you're not gonna get real good separation of your sounds!!!)

By setting the 'Input' mode to Master (at least on the D8) u can take say tracks 1, 2, 3 & 4 and record them all to a stereo mix on tracks 5 & 6, or 7 & 8, (or just 1 track, if u like. This can be useful if you're putting together a rhythm track from percussion, drums etc.) You can call this Mixdown or Bouncing, whatever. (The D8 can also take tracks 1 to 8 and record them down to tracks 7 & 8, a pretty neat feature!)
Like I said, I'm talking for the D8, which to my simple little mind, is a breeze to use. For real specific D16 stuff you really should contact the D16 forum I mentioned earlier.

Keep at it!

Cheers,

Macca.
