Hi All,

Im a singer and I want to buy the best LIVE mic there is for me.

I know that there isn't an overall best microphone in store so that's why im providing a link of songs containing "my voice" (have done the recording and mixing of all vocal and instrument tracks @home, vocals have been recorded using TC Helicon Voiceworks + AKG Solidtube tube studio mic).

I already own a 87Beta shure mic and a SM58.

However I just want the best (have save up about 1000 euro to spent for a live mic).

Can anyone (with much experience) recommend the best mic for me?

What can I use best for: Live situations (in my specific case)?

You can hear tracks with my voice on: www.kernmuziek.hyves.nl

Hope someone can help me!

note: (from the provided posts others can benefit as well as they now have a voice to work with)

Cheers! Glenn (Singer and mix guy of Kern) :)

Only the best mic can be determined by you! or your band mates.
For me mixing live shows and someone asks for a KMS105 it's hard to tell if they know how to use it or just read about it, thou during sound check one can tell right off.
You have to know how to use a hand held condenser mic for it's a different beast. You have to know when to lay back and when to get on it, for it is truly an instrument at that point just not an other SM58 for screaming into.
Listening to your songs a KSM105 may just work for you and you did state that you have a Beta 87 so you know what I'm talking about with a condenser mic.
For me a KSM105 seams to have a lot on the top end to contend with, if you could A/B it with your Beta 87 to see if there's any major difference then make your decision.

Personally, I prefer KMS104, the cardioid version. While very slightly more feedback prone, it is a much more forgiving mic. I'm not a big fan of hypercardioids and supercardioids for live stage use. Another very good alternative is AKG C535. Mostly, I use Shure SM7b, but I'm a guit player, so I don't need a handheld mic.-Richie

Thnx
