I have 256mb of kingston ram in my pc, it needs more, i think my 2 options are either to add another 256mb of kingston, or take the kingston out and put in 2 sticks of cheaper 512mb. Which would increase performance better?

I wouldn't go cheaper than Kingston. Kingston isn't crap, but it isn't great either. Memory problems, should you develop them, completely suck, as their affects are unpredictable and wide-ranging.

I've used Kingmax memory for years. I currently run 2 sticks of 512Meg DDR400 with no problems on an ASus P4P 800-E Deluxe. It's not on the recomendation list by ASus but it works a treat and has done so flawlessly and CHEAPER than Kingston for a long time now.

I've actually had Kingston RAM go bad on me. I have a stick of 512 meg ValuRAM PC 2100 that now refuses to run at PC 2100 speeds, regardless of memory timings. I just use it in my internet box...

A horse is a horse, of course, of course, unless that horse, of course, is the FAMOUS MISTER ....

...oh wait, we're talking about memory...

I use a generic, bookoo computers, never any problems. Just make sure your vendor is CLOSE, STABLE, and CUSTOMER DRIVEN. Statistically everything is going to fail sooner or later. Just make sure you can take it back if you need to.
