So my computer just died on me and it couldn't be worse timing. I'm jobless starting on friday and it's christmas time coming..

I have a g4 mac that is less than stellar that i'm hoping to use for now.
It's a g4 450 MHz PowerPC g4 with 768 MB SDRAM.

yes yes i know it's not the greatest at all. I'm using it right now mainly for my graphics programs.
Right now i'm using a delta 1010lt as my interface which is compatible and my g4 is more than capable of supporting it. However the problem is what program could I use that won't destroy my computer? I'm used to adobe audition and i have used cubase... but i 'll need an older version I'd think.

any suggestions?? this obviously would be temporary (of course unless i get set up and have no issues)

how's logic? I've kinda tried it out but I found it very frustrating to say the least..

reaper is working on a mac port and it is almost caught up to the windows version. check it out, its up for beta download in the forum.

good luck!

an older version on Cubase would work. I used Cubase on a G3 400 MHz with 384 MB RAM a few years ago. I don't think I have that version around anymore...

perhaps Audacity?

what OS is on that G4?

Tracktion by Mackie is really light and has an interesting interface.

Otherwise, seek out an old version of Cubase.

yeah i'm thinking since i already have experience with cubase i'll go that way..

were could I find an old version of cubase? i doubt i'd be able to buy it anymore.. dare i say download a torrent? any other way???

Knowing the OS version will help fine exactly what will work.

What broke on your PC?

unfortunately i only have osx 10.3.9 I don't have too much of an issue upgrading to 10.4 if i have to

I know Cubase SE3 works on 10.3 and 10.4. You can still find it out there, probably about $130.
