I'm looking for any information on how Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" was recorded. I know it was done in two seperate sessions, and that most of the songs are first takes. I can't seem to find any other technical information online.

Anyone know what kind of mics were used, whether it was multi-tracked or direct to stereo, etc. Or know where I could get this info?

Thanks

It was recorded 1959 so that rules out much beyond 2 track stereo or maybe 3 tracks at the outside, I would guess. Probably just mixed and processed on the fly, and into the machine. Probably recorded on an Ampex recorder with the best gear, the best engineers.

I seem to recall something about the earlier CD version having it at the wrong speed and them correcting it on the later edition.
Sorry dont know any more.

Classic jazz album. A lovely dark, moody, sparse feel.

It was undoubtedly recorded in a large wonderful room too. Sublime record.
