Killer bass sounds for hip-hop, R&B, and House. 2 modules for under $200... read this

Face it people, everyone these days is on a budget. They don't have thousands to spend on alot of stuff. I've been reading all kinds of message boards on Yahoo, Aol, this website, and others.

Everyone loves producing their own music, wether its rap, hiphop, house, trance. ect ect ect. Wether they're an aspiring artist, producer, engineer, or they make beats for their family and friends one thing is common....THEY ALL LIKE MAKING MUSIC.

These two modules are FAMOUS in house and club music.

Want the secret?

YAMAHA FB-01 $50.00
YAMAHA TX81Z $100.00-150.00

Example, "Lately Bass" is the most popular bass sound that you will ever hear in club music.

OK, let the Nay sayers rip into this. I'm more than sure this thread is will get a great response wether positive or negative.

PS,
FM Modulation synthesis is awesome for bass tones.

Cheers

I want PHAT BASS

What makes phat basslines 4 hip hop man? U know of any modules? I dont know much about bass machines, but how do they work? Can u record a dope 4 or 8 bar bass melody & then sample it on a sampler & loop it?? Thanx man, id really like to know...something kind of affordable....

These are cheap because they use the FM tone engines of the DX-7, and the module sounds are almost uneditable by themselves. Some nice sounds, but hard to alter. FM synthesis is usually a matter of accidental noise creation, not patch design.

When I was recording in 1985, I lamented the fact that the DX-7 filters were substandard, and very tinny. They'd never cut through in a mix - especialy if the mix used brass.

Same with the TR-606 - tinny noise. We used to add the low tom to the snare just to give it some more kick. Still weak.

Same with the Roland Sh-101 bass. Tinny noise.

So when people use these for club mixes, I think they'd be far better off with some real synths and better drum boxes, like Odysseys, and minimoogs (or their ancestors/clones) and not the rubbish that's passed off as sonically "hip".

We used to call TR-606's TRASH-606's for just this reason.

The stuff you recommend is about the weakest choice for quality sounds in these brands. This is the reason it's cheap.

I never said that these modules are great for pianos, brass, ect, just bass. And yes you do need an editor to program them. If your a moron when programming a synth, move on. this post isnt for you. However, if you have a brain and a good ear, you can get killer bass sounds from these machines. And also you NEED an external editor for them.
