hello there!

i want to buy a kick mic for recording with my band but i can't decide which is the most appropriate for the sound i want to get. We play surf-rock/psychobilly stuff. We want a low tuned sound at drums, especially at the kick. I want a mic to capture a good low end at kick without being muddy. I really DON'T want a metal sounding kick so i've already rejected the d112. So if you were recording a band that plays that stuff, which mic do you think would be the most appropriate ? Can you also tell me a mic to capture a good boooom sound out of the floor tom ? :)

I am getting really good results with CAD KBM412 mics, but a lot depends recording the right levels, placement and the drum it's self. If your drum sounds the way you want then this mic will capture it accurately with a little compression it really sits well in a mix. I have also used it for floor tom and a gong bass drum. Unlike a lot of 'bass drum mics' it is also pretty versatile I have also used this mic for bass amps as well as a crunchy guitar sound with a nice bottom and on a grand piano when a massive low end was needed.
