I have searched and read and searched and read and search and read and search and read... I still can't come to a conclusion..

I am looking for a stand alone piece of software that I can take individual drum samples and make my own loops or complete songs..

Control over individual drum volumes.
Tempo control
Ability to import my own .wave samples..

You know .. this question has been asked hundreds of times but I am clueless.

I am using Cool Edit Pro so VST thingamabobs will prolly not work.

Any and all suggestions would work..

I mean I could take the individual drum sampeles and try to time time them in my multi track view of Cool Edit but they are always out of time.

This will be my first attempt to create my own loops and songs. Until now I used loops. Cakewalk Loops, Betamonkey loops.. etc................

Help a cheezeball... Pleaze.

P.S. I have tried PC Drummer but I am not sure it will do an adequate job..

I think that ACID Express is a free version with limited features. The demo of ACID Pro has a limited lifespan, but many more features. Either one will give you an idea if it's the right program for you. BTW I use ACID (Pro version 4) to create drum tracks from samples and loops and would be glad to give you advice on how to use it.

Excellent! Thanks for the quick reply.. And I just may take you up on the advise.

Ok - Some 2 Years Later I Find Myself In Similar Circumstances - Im Hopin If I Use Acid Perhaps I Can Make "better" Beats Than What I Do With The Triton - If So, Perhaps I Will Sell The Triton On Ebay - ?????

But The Only Knowledge I Have With Acid - Is Just Layering Loops Until U Hear Something You Like - Or Just Using The "as Is" Loops That Are Available On The Cd's U Buy . . .

Any Direction For Help Is Greatly Appreciated!

you know, when I make beats, i use acid to create the samples. then i import the waves into fl. i do that with almost everything, drums or other sampled sounds. i then exprt each individual sequenced track of fl back into acid for mixing. workd well for me and is simple enough.

damm - sounds quite complicated -i checked out some of the tracks on your myspace page - i like the guitar sounds there . . .

thanks man, but those are all live guitars. the only track on there with programmed anyhting is the last on "ode to sunset" and thats only the drums.

here is a myspace with beats ive made using the technique ive mentioned:

and its really not complicatted at all. use acid to cut up a sample, save it as a wave, go into fruity loops and import the wave, put the wav sample where you want, do this with a bunch of samples, use fruity to sequence everything, then mute everytrack except for one, then save that one track as a wave, then mute that track and unmute the next one etc, etc....once you have all the tracks from fruity saved as waves, import each wave into a new project in acid. they should all line up, then you can mix everything with acid and use whtaever plugins and envolpes and stuff.
