I have a question up in the keyboard synth page under the subject key/synth asking for some shopping advice. I am looking to buy soon and was hopping some of you could answer my questions in that section. It has been a few days w/o a responce and I was hoping to hear some oppinions.

Yo Dan:

There are SOOOOOOO many keyboards out there. I'm still using my Yamaha DX-7 of yore. It took about three years to learn the learning curve for the Yamaha DX-7; however, once you learn one, the others are similar; you just have to twist and slide different doo-dads.

I'd go to several dealers and listen to different keyboards and get DEMOS of their capabilities. Do you want to get into sequencing or just want pffat sounds? Whatever you want, it's out there and prices are reasonable; of course, for the real quality, the price goes up.

Also, call all of the 800 numbers around before you buy a keyboard and get a good idea of price. The one advantage of buying at a local dealer is that you can always go back for help; however, you will get a better price via the mail.

Have fun shopping,
Green Hornet
