I've plugged MIDI cables from my keyboard to my soundcard's joystick/MIDI port (using a MIDI adapter). I've also plugged audio cables from my keyboard to my soundcard using a cable with a 3.5mm plug on one end and 1/4 inch plugs on the other.

However, I cannot hear any sounds thru my speakers coming from my keyboard when I play.

My speakers are connected to the FRONT LINE OUT port on my SB Live soundcard because they are "powered" speakers.

I want to be able to hear what I play on my keyboard out of my speakers, even when I'm not doing anything with MIDI.

Is this possible and if so, can anyone tell me how?

Thanks!

If your using recording software, you may need to arm the track before you will hear anything.

Hey there Stealth....

I'm using Cool Edit Pro 2.0. However, from what I later read on the Cool Edit forums after this thread was that CEP does not allow for MIDI recording (if I understood correctly).

So, I'm needing to find MIDI software that allows me to do that. Actually, I saw a suggestion to move away from CEP altogether if I'm going to do alot with MIDI.

Any recommendations on what software to use to record MIDI for the Windows platform? Or, should I consider another app altogether that will do the recording/sequencing/editing and MIDI? I've downloaded a demo of Acid Pro 4 and will dig into that on tomorrow. Perhaps I can record MIDI with Acid?

More than anything, I just want to make sure I have my MIDI all set up properly and until I "hear" something that proves that, I'll assume I don't.

I just thought that I should hear myself playing in my speakers even if I didn't want to do any recording.

Phree
