Im trying to set up a home studio, I have a Keyboard w/ both MIDI out and 1/4 out, my electric Guitar, with 1/4 out, I right now have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound Card in a P4 @ 3.0 Ghz. What do I need as a go-between between my PC and insturments. I am also looking at Cakewalk's home studio for my editing software. Sone help and changes to what i should be using would be helpful

Keyboard:Yamaha DGX-300
Guitar:Gibson Les Paul Custom
Soundcard:Sound Blaster Audigy 2
Computer:Dell XPS w/ P4@3.0 GHz and 1Gig of RAM

Thanks in advance :-)

If the Audigy uses 1/8" input jacks, you can get 1/4" to 1/8" converter plugs to use what you've got.

If you're planning on micing your guitar amp, you'll need a preamp to boost the signal, or a mixer with inbuilt pres.

After a while you may want to trade up your sound card to maybe something like the M-Audio Delta 44 which gives you 4 balanced/unbalanced 1/4" inputs and another 4 outputs. Home Studio will let you record on more than 1 track concurrently if you need that.

If you are going to upgrade your soundcard, you need to think about whether you will need a midi interface or just use the line-out from your keyboard. The delta 44 mentioned above doesn't support midi
