I play a Yamaha p-80 (which i like quite a bit) and need to upgrade my amplification for gigging. i have been using a roland kc300 for practice but know this wont cut it live (distorts once its pushed, not enough bass). I have also rehearsed using a Peavey KBA300 which is much better but pretty large.
I definately want to go stereo and already own a Behringer QSC PA head (280 watts /side). So i want to find a pair of speakers to use with the Behringer. I dont know how match speakers to the PA head, so any info on how that works would be welcome. I probably need 15" speakers to get enough bass to make piano sounds etc sound right. so I'm looking for suggestions as to great sounding speakers which arent too huge or heavy.
i've also considered using a pair of keyboard amps, the rolands being the most obvious choice. (kc 500s or 550s maybe? too big though). if a pair of kc-300s (or the newer 350s) were enough, that could work, but i'm thinking they might not cut it (based on my experience with the kc300) .
i tend to think matching both speakers to one another is best. however, if its practical, i might consider having one larger and one smaller in the stereo pair (for example maybe a kc550 with a kc 350 amp, or with a smaller speaker) is this a terrible idea, not matching the speakers in a stereo pair?
any suggestions on speakers and/or amp for a good clean live keys sound? hopefully not too huge (alot to ask i know). i would pay more $$ for something powerful yet relatively small/light. let me know what you think.
thanks
