Hello , here's a pretty short instrumental I'm finalizing. I used my G&L asat and brought in my homemade lap steel on the 2nd half of the song. Anything sticking out that needs attention please let me know. Thanks .. mark

@subvibe , Thank You. If I can impress "You" on a mix I feel I have acomplished something. 😁
@Big Thier , You've gotten me lookig at a few changes that would help. Lead guitar is down 2db now , and it's smoother. I'll edit the post when I've got things locked in a little better. Thanks for the listen and your opinion. ms

The link now reflects a remix . There were quite a few timing issues with the bass . Track volumes are balanced a little bettter now.
When I started this one my project got corrupted by 4 instances of "Space Blender" reverb plugin. Severe glitching and tracks recording out of time. CPU usage went to 100%. I had to export each track (dry) and rebuild all the FX omitting the problem plugin.
"Sound Toys" just updated the "Space Blender" plugin containing fixes for CPU problems. I will install it shortly and try to use it again on my next project.
It's a great swelling reverb with very cool effect. Hope it works out. Thanks .. mark

Listened to the remix. When it started, I thought: 'It's too bright or lacks some low end,' but then I realized it was just the opening guitar that gave that impression. I have a question: Has anybody ever mixed a given track in a mix (eg an electric guitar track) with different EQ at different stages of the mix? For instance, mix the opening segment with a darker EQ on the guitar, and then make it brighter when the rest of the tracks joined in. Is that as goofy as it sounds as I'm writing it?

Hi @dobro
you could Render each part of the track with the different settings
Or if you are comfy with Midi CC you can change the setting of the FX at each given part

@dobro , I'll look at that section again , and yes it would be pretty easy to automate the EQ in any given section. ms

All parameters in plugins and many outboard gear that has MIDI connections can be automated. I think it would be easier to have multiple EQs on sends, then automate the sends input rather than the EQ. At least that is the way I would do it. Send 1 - start, input full, X time stamp, reduce send 1, increase send two ... That sort of automation. That seems easier than multiple parameters KISS, right?

Ok, the link now reflects another remix. Thanks @dobro , I like it when you get me looking deeper into a mix. It's nice to have other ears on a project. Thanks @Big Thier for the lead guitar fix. 😁
It's like when I revisit a project that has been finished for a few months , I hear it differently and nearly always find problem areas. Other ears are like finding more improvements in real time. It would be nice to have the ability to hear Everything correctly.
The bright intro guitar was the left acoustic. I dialed down the high shelf and left it that way. I also automated the volume of it down 2db during the intro and another section playing the same part. The rest of the song that guitar was playing lower notes with some slapping. Those parts sounded much better after the changes. Made minor reverb and chorus changes as well. One thing leads to another. I'll try to retain what I have learned here . Thanks ! mark
