The mix doesn't sound too bad on YT. I'm going to say it's a 128KPS (maybe 64KPS) resolution. The vocals are really sitting nice on this mix as it has translated from Soundclick to YT with similar clarity. Terry's vocal storytelling combined with your signature guitar/bass tracks are always great. The additional collab partners on drums and guitars are just an added bonus. The video is an added bonus....:D

Supercreep,
I just edited together a bundle of Utub clips using windows movie maker and a mp3 of the songs as the guide (that can be dropped onto the audio track).
I wrote up the gumbie how to. I'll find a link to it & drop it into this reply in a few moments.
Ido,
Mate, the response to your solo has been enormous. It works PURRFECTLY.This is my 1st vid. but I'll outline how I fumbled it together.
Supercreep - here it be!
I downloaded old ITN footage (hopefully open source now but I noted the source in all descriptions anyway) from Youtube as mp4s (for max available quality) using Keepvid & converted them to wmv (movie maker runs these better) using Super - (both free). Keepvid runs online that lets you download as FLV or MP4 & Super is a download.
I then converted the audio to MP3.
Step 1 was to import the audio into windows movie maker (wmm) and drag it to the audio track.
OHHH, when I converted the MP4s I switched the audio options off - I didn't want to battle with extraneous sounds etc.
I then imported the 1/2 doz vids from Youtube into a "collection" in wmm - in doing this the program breaks each clip down into scenes based on percieved edits - very handy.
I then dragged the scenes to the time frame as I wanted them & did some shuffling around etc to get a close 1st fit.
I imported the still images as (JPEGs of old snaps & CD covers etc) and dropped them where I wanted.
I then used the inbuilt title maker to drop some text on the bundle.
Fiddled and fussed about synchs etc for a while then saved it as a project (should have done that every 5 mins shouldn't I?) and then as a movie for play back on a computer.
After LOTS of stuffing about trying to upload to youtube & soundclick I saw the error of my ways (not shown in any of the how to's) & converted a copy of the movie to a flash flick (flv) using super so that it'd be smaller & therefore easier to upload.
I Uploaded to youtube with single word title, description & link word set for private viewing as this speeds up the process.
I used the Upload link at the top right of most Utub pages.
I went into My Videos in my account page (oh, you have to sign up to upload so do that 1st really- free & easy) at youtube and changed all the single word stuff to what I really wanted & set the viewing to public/worldwide.
I was able to copy the embedding script & link for the vid straight away & dropped an embedded version into Myspace & a link at HR. I then uploaded to Soundclick & there you have it.
Took me about three nights to teach myself all of this by trial & error - being a meathead means I took longer than you would/should.
You can import vid from your phone or camera easily too & splice it in.
Oh, I had to download EZ WMV to RM Converter, again free and easy, to change the WMV to RM so I could play the vid on my little MP4 & wave player - the quality declines quite a bit with that extra conversion.
As the original saved movie it'll play fullscreen on the computer with quite reasonable quality being that they were MP4s to begin with.
Give it a whirl.

Wow, that was really cool ray, visuals adds even more to this cool song...thumbs up!

Cool seems to be the operative word here, but it does apply. This is really well done ray.:)

At imes, it very literally follows the lyrics and at others not so much. I particularly liked the shot of the man playing the horn during the solo (it seemed to blink intermittently, or was that me?) the fact that it lingered on that shot for a bit changed the pacing in a nice way.

Very cool Ray. You might check out http://www.archive.org/index.php Its all public domain footage, music, articles, movies. Tons of stuff. Good video. Id like to get Sony Vegas at some point. Ive been using Movie Maker also. Alot of fun

Thanks for the nice words folks.
The Bugle player is the same clip twice - the vid needed something to hold it together so I did a Matisse green nose thing with the bugle. The blink is the edits & the faux aging effect as well.
I know it was full of fast edits so I introduced all the significant characters in the first few bars or so to relieve the tension.
I was thinking of tidying it up some more but thankfully, for you anyway, the harddisc in my comp died so I've lost the projects & all parts there of - just the finished prod on a thumb drive now.
BACK UP - yeah, I'll have to do that better.
I'll nned to get some vid of Terry for my next attempt.
I have a back catalogue of historically referenced songs so I could go on in this vein forever - but I hope I don't.
Again, thanks for the encouragement. As to better software - hmm, it might come to that if I get enthusiastic enough.

Simply awesome, Ray!
Takes on a whole new meaning with the video. Hats off to all the work you've done putting it together! Mix sounds just right to me now. ;)

Well done!

Joe :):)
