ok i know this is a dumb question. a really dumb question and i appologise in advance.....
I have an extremely basic setup, as I am still at school and can't afford anything better.
Basically I have a few mics at my disposal, going into a Behringer 1202FX mixer, going into the line in of my Asus2 motherboard's inbuilt soundcard. (Again I'd love a proper soundcard but simply cannot afford it).
The software I am using is Adobe Audition 2.0.
Anywayz to cut to the chase, is there any way to have eg. 2 or more mics going into the mixer and then keep the 2 or mroe tracks separated for editing when going into the computer. I know this seems illogical due to the fact that a mixer mixes tracks together then sends them, but I would like to have sepparate tracks if I was for eg. micing a drum kit and wanted to eq a certain part of the kit etc.........the only was I can think to do this would be to record the tracks sepparately, which in most applications would be unpractical....
again sorry for the stupid noob question, just curious to know how its done even if it would cost 10 grand.......
cheers again and sorri for the long ramble!

It can be done only if you forego the mixer and upgrade to a soundcard with more than 2 inputs. You may also have to upgrade the RAM in your pc.
Sorry.

As a very basic work around, you could input 2 mic's to your mixer and hard pan one left and one right... then when you run the stero signal of the mixer into the line in on your computer you will have a stereo signal that you could split into 2 mono tracks in your software... but 2 mono sources is the most you'll get at the same time with a stereo only interface like your soundcard... the real solution is as Rokket said, to buy a better soundcard/interface. :)
