Karma, Cakewalk, Quantize

I run Cakewalk Sonar XL on an M-Audio Audiophile soundcard with 2 RCA ins, 2 RCA Outs, MIDI in, MIDI out, and a pair of s/pdif plugs.

Right now, I record using my Korg Karma, but all I know how to do is record a direct line of audio from my keyboard to my mixer to the RCA's. This method works , but it leaves me unable to quantize my stuff. So everything I record is coming out just a tad sloppy.

Should I record in my keyboard, quantize it, then send it out to cakewalk?

Or can I sync my keyboard to Cakewalk or something?

I'm still new to all this stuff, so please, tread lightly on me.

Run the Korg's MIDI Out to the Audiophile's MIDI In, and the Audiophile's MIDI Out to the Korg's MIDI In. Launch SONAR, set up a MIDI Track, arm for recording, hit record and start playing.

Now to get the Karma to play back, you send the recorded MIDI information to the MIDI Out port and set up the Karma to receive the mesages accoridngly. You'll want an instrument definiton file for the Karma to make your life easier.

It's a little puzzling at first, but it's pretty simple once you think it through, follow the signal path and dot all the i's and cross all the t's. Reading the manuals helps.

The Karma is a kick-ass instrument, a friend of mine has one...
