My apologies for posting this here, but this be my favorite topic forum on this site, I had to ask you.
I don't use them, no idea who is who in that game so could you please recommend me some good Karaoke program, because friend asked me for the same and I have no idea what to recommend because I never cared much about those things.

Any good tips or links
Much obliged

Karyoker,

I just had to ask you since even name pronounces your wisdom about this Karaoke specialty, and you certainly know your stuff.

Could you please also tell me of some site and (best) links where you can download songs for Karaoke, correction (I hope) data required for Karaoke effect.

Thank you so much

correction (I hope) data required for Karaoke effect.

Basically karaoke tracks require an additional file (cdg) which provides the graphics in a video format and starts the mp3 at the right time. The software above converts the video for display and a dual head video board is used for two displays, a small one on the computer monitor and full screen for the stage monitor tv. The mp3 of course is routed out from an adequate sound board. A sample rate of 128 used to be common but I'm ripping now to rates of 200 or 300+.

Although court cases in the past few years have established that Kj & DJ music from a hard drive comes under the Fair Use Act downloading karoke tracks is still considered by some to be in the gray area so I wont provide any links here but a google search will find a few . Stay away from the "midi" type downloads. Soundchoice and others are on the verge of providing downloads. The ones avaiaible now go for about $2 per track and considering there are about 15 tracks per cd that's still $30 / cd.

Currently I have over 12000 karaoke tracks ( Mostly Soundchoice ) and dont know how many mp3's for fill music. Normally you dont see karaoke stuff on this forum :) but consider this ...For years I have had up to 30 different singers a night all genres and tailor the efx for each singer in all environments inside small bars big clubs and outdoors. Now I record 2 mic tracks and the music before it even hits the sound card on Sonar3. The mics are routed back from a Dbx 226xl ( although I prefer the compression in the plugins even Sonitus:fx) and I use a Delta 44 sound board.

I threw in the last paragraph for the folks that still think that karaoke isn't a viable and professional nique in the music business. ;)
