its not doing anything special for me, maybe more production value. (i'm not necessarily the one to talk LOL) but good start nonetheless.

Peace, Tyler

really good except for the drum kit you used. I kinda agree with terra is sounds cheap. Bass needs to have some more low end and the snare is barely audible. i love the sample and the melody you got going. really good start.

i agree about the overall cheap sound, but i really like this sample.
how did you do the vocals?

drums are weaksauce bro, just find you a better kit or just start layering some sounds, sample souns good tho, did u just loop it?

yeah gotta pump those drum up for sure!

the sample is actually a hidden loop; the full harmonica loop never plays solo during the song, there's always vocals at the end or during the loop so i had to take 80% of the loop from the intro to the song then find that last 20% that didn't have vocals on it to complete the loop. So the sample is technically chopped to create the illusion of a loop.

yeah, drums need a little work, gotta make 'em stronger too; thanks for checking it out though man!

I agree with replacing the drums. Everybody rags on Kanye for his drum sounds but even though they sound thin sometimes they add a certain dimension to his tracks. On another note, make sure you clear that sample befoer you make any big moves.

well on the other hand you might think it adds another dimension to his music because hes Kanye West.

definitely, one beat that comes to mind is "Grindin" produced by The Neptunes:
YouTube - The clipse - Grindin Instrumental

If anybody posted that beat everyone would say it was whack and needed more synths and instrumentation; i know i would be one of those people at least, but since that's "The Neptunes" they can enjoy it for what it is.

Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing but it's an interesting thing that when do tend to listen with quite a bit of expectation and bias

hi im new here. i like sample but the beat is hit hard or making u feel like its need to be. it probably because u dnt have what u need to make sound like it needs to be. do some googling or look on here. in practice ull get it

yeah, i found out my compression techniques were really poor and my attack setting was too short and destroying the hit of my drums; gonna go back and fix it up and layer some of the drums and add a nice a bass and see how this turns out

thanks for the feed everyone!

What in the world did you say

Yeah these drums are very soft like terry cloth.

And you sampled "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne Warwick? NO chopping at all you just kinda looped the whole track.

File this under Puffy-style not Kanye.

Yikes
