K6 not for audio

I've heard that the fixed point math calculations of the K6 are not up to audio processing. The K7 Athlons took care of this problem, but still the most supported PC is the PIII/ASUS CSUL mobo.

You are correct about the K6 having weak floating-point. It is actually slower than the Pentium "1" chip in this regard. The K7 is a whole different chip, has little relation to 6 other than its name.
 
Yeah, if your playing Quake or something... it's the 2000's now, come on!

I have a few K5's that just rock on audio, if you want them let me know.
 
I pulled my hair out forever and a day trying to record audio with a K6...it would take more than a K7 to get me away from Intel......
