Hello,

I recently purchased a Yamaha ux-16 usb midi interface for my new computer. I'm running windows xp on this pc. The sequencing software I am using is Powertracks Pro Audio v4.0b by PG Music. When I was running windows 98 on my older computer and midi via joystick port, I didn't have a problem cotrolling the jv-1010 thru the serial port of the keyboard while playing the notes from my korg m1 via the joystick port midi interface. Now that I have a new pc, i'm running xp on it, I just purchased the yamaha ux-16 usb midi interface since this new motherboard does not have a joystick port on it. I can communicate with the korg fine. The problem is my jv-1010. Everytime I try to hit a note via the korg m1, I get a "coe BFL" message which is for buffer full. I've tried minimizing sysex buffer settings in my sequencer software (powertracks) but that still does not help. I still get the buffer full message. I tried using the sound diver software that came with the module to edit memory buffer settings, but that does not recognize the module in XP. Is there anything I can do to have all three pieces of equipment communicate with my sequencing software?

I don't know if this is helpful or not but here goes,The JV1010 is probably using Rolands GS midi. Also I owned a Korg M-1 and I know that the M-1 is not patterned for the GM spec. This is already a perscription for confusion. Korg used a lot of non standard midi commands here.
Hey did you hear about the new Korg Legacy collection? Cool man real cool,199 dollars gets you a Korg M-1 with all the sounds in software it includes all the cards ever made for the M-1 and sounds from the T-1 PLUS the korg wavestation and the best thing is its fully controllable and GM compatible.

That Korg legacy, is that a keyboard? Or is that cards to use for the m1? I figured out why I was getting the buffer full message on my JV-1010. When looking at the manual for the jv-1010, it stated in the notes that roland prefers you to use com port 2 because of baud rate settings on the pc. I was originally using com1 and the transfer rate was too high. I switched it to com2 and everything is working lovely now! yay! :-)

It is a new product from korg called the legacy collection. Its all software synths, you get the wavestation and the M-1 and ALL the sounds ever made for the M-1 meaning the cards that were 100 bucks a pop and there were a lot of them, most recently the sounds for the T-1 are added to this collection. I have heard the demo and it sounds good, the sounds are some of the best.
I drool every time I see it,and for 199 how can you go wrong? Its like having the M-1 with better control and more capabilities in terms of midi control and dsp effects.
