It will fix the problem, but to prove it you could do this.
Pan something in your software to the missing side and hit play. Ie. so you can't hear it.
Now, pull the headphones and adapter out of the interface but only a little bit.
If you balance it right you'll hear your right side audio through the left side of the headphones.
