Hi,
I've been practicing religiously since the spring singing tunes daily and listening to myself on my computer. I'm ready to start making home recordings for YouTube & other online pages to share my voice. I purchased a Blue Snowball mic, and I currently only have Audacity. I sing pop/jazz in the mold of anything from Sinatra to Buble.

I'm open to any pointers you have for me. I'd like to record clear audio with a slight reverb effect. What free or preferably low cost programs are there that will get me started? I know there are plugins for Audacity, but I don't like the reverb I got.

Thank you

Try REAPER. Its way better than audacity. Plus, the REAverb plugin that comes with it sounds pretty good.

Second vote for Reaper. But take the time to read the user manual!

Then you may want to look at a non-USB mic and an audio interface. At $57.24 (today's Amazon price), my guess is neither the mic nor it's digital converter is all that good ...

I've been recording myself with my snowball, and while it's decent quality...it's far too dry, and my live voice is better than the recording. What direction should I go with the interface & a new mic? BTW I bought it for $100 :/. Anyways, I want something that will accurately record my voice & be warmer sounding.

Thanks for the help.

What's your budget? A condensor mic and interface with preamp and phantom power is a must.

Let's say $300-400 or less... but try to keep it down, unless there's a substantial difference.

I wouldn't say a condensor is a "must". Many great recordings have been made with dynamic mics. Besides, if his room is not treated, a condensor could make it worse than a dynamic would.
