Just starting, but looking to eventually go corporate

I need all the help i can get. I've got a partner who is pretty experienced in mixing and recording, but I'd like to get some experience in it before I start investing lots of money. We're starting a record label called "Cracka" Records.
We've already got a studio, and some equipment, but we need a little help with getting premium sound out of our equipment, for our potential artists that we're signing.

Gonna take a shot at the big time, eh?
Well... if you're going to be signing artists to record, there's a whole bunch of stuff you're gonna need... Like a good lawyer, but that's probably not the kind of info you're looking for
There's a lot of knowledge lurking around this site, but you'll need to be pretty specific to get at it.
What equipment do you have so far ?
