It was my first condenser mic and I'm buying it again to start building up my mic cabinet. I wasn't too familiar with as I sold it quickly and bought a new one but anyone else like it? I'm also better at mixing now so I'm hoping I can get something out of it paired with my focusrite voicemaster.

I bought one of those a while back hoping it would be the sm57 of condenser mics... but, it didn't really work out. I prefer the AT4040. but yeah, it's ok... does a job... Actually, reading your post reminded me that I even have one...:)

I have both of those ATs. I think I actually use the 2020 more than the 4040.
Don't have a VoiceMaster but have a couple other Focusrite pres and they
both seem to do a pretty good job with either mic.
If your looking for another low cost mic for the locker I would suggest a CAD
M177 sounds similar to a 4040 with just a bit more noise.

Never used a 4040 or an M177, but I got a 2020 for free with a FIREPOD. It's a decent mic.

It's an electret condenser with a small diaphragm mounted in a large diaphragm case, which I think should mean that the grille has less impact on the sound since it is farther away from the diaphragm and has a larger surface area.

I've used it for miking cello. Works reasonably, IMHO.
