Just ordered my AT4040...advice on setup?

Like the title says I just ordered my mic and now I need and audio interface. I plan on ordering a Mackie Satellite because of the preamps and the price I can find it for (<100). I'm using my MacBook and GarageBand to start, logic in the future I suppose. I'm using my DAW for hip hop vocals and beats. any advice would be much appreciated!
 
I don't even think they make the Mackie Satelite anymore. You have lots of options for one or two channel interfaces ranging from about ~$100 to over $500. they'll have varying quality of converters and mic preamps and facilities for monitoring and headphones. Regardless how elaborate you want to go with your recording gear, every listening space will benifit from acoustic treatment and good monitoring... so, next purchase would be a good set of monitors (not headphones) and some room treatment (NOT foam). :)

Thanks! You're right they don't make the satellite anymore but because of how cheap I can get it I think it's a pretty good choice, my next would be the apogee duet which is not so cheap. I Want my most expensive piece to be the monitors. I was thinking 500 or less for a pair. Any suggestions? I plan on really learning how to mix, techniques and and basics.
Also, any good reading material on treating the room?

Right on. Looks like that Mackie ought to work for you. I don't know much about it, though it doesnt seem like it was in production very long. I'm sure the Apogee Duet is nice for sure.

As far as monitors, $500 should get you a nice set of 8" powered monitors. I have a pair of Event TR8s that I got about 7 years ago... look for offerings from Event, Mackie, KRK... regardless of what monitors you go for, if you don't treat your space, you definitely wont get the most out of them...
Look into basstraps, rigid fiberglass (aka OC703), etc. Check out the studio build forum here. There is a LOT of info in there- everything from building a who fuggin pro studio to how to treat a bedroom where you can't make permanent changes...
 
The best one for your situation would be the Line6 UX2 or UX8.
