Wow ! I just got a deal I had to share (the wife don't get it).
Was wandering through a Sears clearance store in Toronto, and happened upon a pair of Sennheiser model 30 cordless headphones. I had been looking at a pair around Xmas, but felt the $130 sale price was a bit too high for a "toy".
When the clerk pulled the (previously unopened) box out of the display case, I just about fell over.
The price tag said $199.99 list, Sale Price....
$40.00 !!!!!:D (for you US BBS'ers, that's about USD$25 for them, tax included).
Took them home, charged them up, and no more worries about how far away I can move from my system. Goes great with the cordless optical mouse - I can record well away from the noise of the PC and other gear.
And the sound ain't too bad either ...

Best deal I've gotten in a while (actually, I'm pretty happy with my new Apex 730 LDC as well - CAD$150)

Yo Mike of a Technical nature:

I've got the JVC cordless long-range cans. Mine ran about 70 USD from my supplier for most gear I buy -- Full Compass.

The wireless cans are kind of nice to use when doing certain jobs in the studio and for sitting outside [pretty soon I hope] and having a cold one while listening to stuff. But, the cans are noisy and mine, at times, pop in and out due to interference from one sort or another, like if I walk by the fridge, they pop off for a few seconds and then reset.

But when I'm working on tracks, I use the Beyer 250 cans. Very nice cans but they do fit a bit tight when new.

Nice buy you got -- amazing what one finds on St. Patrick's Day.

:D :D :p :p

Also you can pick up a pair of Sennheiser 580's for cheap now that they've been replaced by the 600's. Extremely accurate and flat.

Hey Green Hornet,
I actually used them for recording last night - no noise, and I didn't get all tangled up in the old headphone cord.
Moved around unhindered. What a feeling !
Don't think I'd be using them as a reference, but they sure did come in handy.
And yes, sitting ouside with them (and a frosty one) sounds like a great idea - maybe even use them when I cut the lawn (although, I don't think I'd want to get them sweaty... )
Cheers,
mike
