Just had an epiphany about my guitar gear and how much of it I don't use

Peavey Envoy 110
Boss DS-1
Dunlop Crybaby Original
2002 Epiphone Dot Archtop
2004? OLP MM5 Baritone
Alvarez Acoustic

ANYWAYS. I don't play my bass, I don't need it really. I want to play in a band but I've gone through hell and back with some of the guys I play with and I have no use for it--really. What I'm wondering is, if I sell my bass gear, am I going to regret it? I absolutley love playing my guitar stuff, but see no need for my bass gear. I bought it all back when I was in a band, and obviously we aren't together anymore. I am playing my guitar though my bass stuff, it sounds shitty, and I'd really like to buy a better guitar rig.

So basically what I'm asking is, do you think selling my bass gear for some better guitar gear is stupid? I don't feel like I'll miss it at all. Playing bass is really fun, but I want to develop my guitar skills more. I LOVE playing guitar. And I'd really, really like a nicer guitar amp (a tube obviously). I figure I could sell the bass rig and with some added cash get a very nice guitar amp :)

What is your guys' take on this?

Years ago, I played Bass with a few friends. I tinkered with guitar at the time as well and always just used my bass gear to plug my strat into. About a year and a half ago I picked up a decent Fender solid state amp and have never regretted it a bit. Of course I kept my bass gear too because I still play Bass, but you can't go wrong in getting a good amp to play guitar through. I'd lose the Behringer stuff though, heh
 
Sell the bass amp, but if you like the bass I'd keep it. It's easy to record direct with bass, and someday you might be a solo studio act like the rest of us :o
 
Yeah I'd agree with that. Sell the amps and stuff by all means, but having a Bass laying around is incredibly useful.
 
i say keep it all and save money for the rest...
i still regret selling my first bass...
now i have 1 bass, 3 acoustics, 2 electric gits, 2 drum kits.. and a plethera of other instruments...
it makes it real easy if you want to have some ppl over to "jam" .. they wont have to carry all their amps over and such..

75-80% of the gear I have sold, I have regretted. A small chassis blackface early 60's Showman, a Plexi 50w, a 2X15 small format Fender cab loaded with D150's, a 1967 Priceton Reverb, an Acoustic bass head... the list goes on.

The difference between my bass rig and your stuff is that mine is Behringer :D I love my Behringer recording equipment, but well, I think I'm going to pitch that bass cabinet and bass head. I could do for a new guitar amp anyway. Peavey Envoy 110 was bought back in... 2004 when I first started playing. I've advanced a LOT and I need an upgrade. I'll keep my Epi Bass though :)

I don't think I've regretted selling anything . . . especially my Ovation :D
 
bass amps and cabinets are easy to come by if you need them. i'd ditch that nonsense and get yourself a guitar amp you actually like. and just because its tube doesn't mean its gonna be amazing, don't get suckered into the hype.

Well, I have played through a lot of tube amps the past two years I have been playing and I love them :) I'd really like to get a Peavey ValveKing 2 x 12 :D A Fender Twin would be nice, but it may not be in my price range, but I will try to get it.

My current Peavey sucks in comparison with other equipment. Just not a tone I like at all. I definately plan on ditching that garbage and getting a GOOD amp :) Tube or otherwise ;)
 
None of that bass gear retains it's value so you would be lucky to get $300 for all of it on a trade-in. You might get a little more selling it locally but good luck finding someone to buy used Behringer gear. Forget Ebay because the shipping costs would be a deal buster.
 
I have seen some used Behringer bass gear sold on eBay for close to what it was bought for, not sure of their conditions though. My bass head went for 199.99 (I thought) the other day and a cab similar to mine went for $200 something. FedEx will ship the cab for $65. Or I could put it up as a local listing too.

But I suppose I'll try to sell it first before I trade it in. Trading it in == :(
 
Definately keep the bass guitar.

You might see if you can swap out the bass head/cab for a smallish combo.
Then you'd have the option of playing live without the weight issue or having to much cash tied up in it (maybe).
 
why a 2x12? The valveking 1x12 is only 400 bucks. That is very affordable and from the clips i've heard, it sounds really good. The 1x12 will be plenty loud.
 
I put the bass crap on eBay so hopefully it sells.

If it doesn't I'm going to go trade it in for something.

I wanted the 2 x 12 so in case I may play a gig again someday.. I'll want the loudness.
 
I've been thinking about selling my Les Paul. I know i could get another guitar i would like (a Jag-Stang) and a smal PA for it.
I dunno, I barely use it. (Im a Bass Player)
