Hi there all, i've just got myself a Yamaha CD REwriter with which i have copied one audio CD successfully so i must be doing something right !!!!.

I have a lot of Vinyl LP's that i havent heard for years.

I would like to put them onto an Audio CD using my CD Writer.

I have a record Deck without amplifier

I have a Sound blaster Live 1024 soundcard

Can i do what i want, do you think ?.

Do i need to amplify the Record Deck ?

Which socket in the Sound card do i put the lead from the record deck ?.

simple questions i know to somebody who already knows the answer, which would probably be someone who has already done it.

any replies with sensible answers will be most appreciated.

depends on the player you have. Some players have to be hooked up the the phono input on an amplifier. Others (like mine) have an internl amp, bringing the signal up to line level. If yours has an internal amp (look under the platter, is there a switch somewhere?) you can hook it into the line in on your sound card. Good luck.

You don't need a record deck for this process. Don't you have some sort of stereo receiver or amplifier? How do you listen to your records?

thanks for the response

the record deck is from Tandy, "realistic" i think, i havent seen it for years, it's up in my loft along with my Amplifier, i can see i shall have to experiment with it and see what strength of output i get.

You'll probably need to ground the turntable. Try this and connect the phono cables to your soundcard's line-in.

It's almost certainly going to have to be plugged into the phono input of a stereo receiver/amp; then you'ld take the Tape Out or Aux Out signals into the soundcard. Some mixing boards have a phono input as well.

execellent suggestion, thanks alchuck, mgs and ametth.

i shall hopefully be able to try it out at the weekend.

thanks lads.
