Do you have a SM 57 to compare it to?

I'm not conducting a scientific experiment here, I'm just a buyer of cheap gear to mess with at my house. If the clone does me good for my silly little projects, it's a keeper. A side-by-side would be interesting, but I don't drop $100 on mics anymore. I save that money for clones of Les Pauls! :D

I do! And now I have 6 GLS ES-57's! :D

...and 3 ES-58's!

I know it's the idea behind them, but is it really an 'equivalent' mic Phil? Are they really the same? Obviously you have many so you think that they're at least worth it... But I want to know more!

it would be nice to know just how close they are, but it's interesting the guy who sells them has ZERO negative feedback. not one bad comment about them.

Another vote for...

The ES-57's - I own three of them and an ES-58. I also have A/B'd the ES-57 with the SM-57 (our band actually uses both). I prefer the ES-57's linear frequency response to the SM-57's - just a really nice microphone all around. Solidly constructed and great-sounding.

I actually like most of the products that Orange County Speaker sells - their mic cables are very nice quality and very well-shielded, and their instrument cables are fantastic - very low capacitance and built with quality components.

Just my .02
Jay
