Just got a pair of Sony MDR-7506 headphones.

I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Just wanted to let you all know :)

..........

OK I'll go into a little detail. Previously my monitoring consisted of 2 pairs of crap no-name headphones and a Sony mini-component system. The 7506's are now the best sounding piece of monitoring equipment in my setup. The freq. response is way better than that of my speakers or any of my headphones. I can hear bass in songs that I never before knew was there, and with the extra treble response I am now able to hear noise in my own recordings that I wasn't previously able to hear.

They don't seem to bleed much either.

I have several pairs of 7506's in my studio.... they're great cans.

Just don't try to mixdown with them, or ANY headphones for that matter... it'll drive you bonkers.

Congrats on your purchase, and enjoy! ;)

i need a new pair of cans for recording, and having them 'practically eliminate all external noise' sounds like a great option!

now i just have to get the money together....

I know we should not use headphone for mix down.... but what about tracking?

As a homerecorder, my control room and vocal booth is the same place! :( meaning I have to turn off the monitors during tracking... at the moment, the sound coming from my I-don't-wanna-name'em headphones sounds nothing like when out of the monitors....

would a good pair of heaphone improved this situation?

Any tips, what we, homerecorders, should do during tracking?

leeking, you know where we could pick up some of these headphones in penang?

The headphones in music shops I see here are not that great....

You can try electronics shop, especially those with big SONY signs... ;)

The last PC fair here, I saw a both selling senheinser headphones... might be worth to go check out the next PC fair too.... :)

I'm more interested to hear what kind of sounds you guys are producing in Malaysia. Its great to be able to hear what muscicians so far away are thinking and doing. What a trip.

is that really a big thing for you? that people in other countries are producing music?

malaysia's underground music scene is starting to get bigger. better bands are coming out. more bands are recording. but yeah, the only problem in malaysia is that equipment is scarce, and when it is found it is insanely expensive.

about sounds i am producing, or trying to...

ambient, post rock, space-rock, experimental kind of stuff. LeeKing, have you heard of a band here in malaysia (out of penang actually) that are called the Damn Dirty Apes?

I am not much of a fan of the local scenes.... so can't really answer any question. :)

sony 7506

i love mine, but the cord is a butt to replace on your own,
i had the akg 270's for a while, now theres a bear to mix with , funny story .I was mixing a project for this band on a roland vs-840 , and I had to go to my real job ,(I sell tv's and stereo's) so I took the recorder and the akg's with me , the idea was to mix on them and then reference against the wall of different speakers I had up there and pray the gods of mixdown would grace me with their presence that day.
any ways it was real busy so on my lunch I went to Borders book store and plugged in the recorder and put the akg's on and proceeded to work ,never really thinking that I looked like some sort of freak until in the corner of my eye I see about 10 people staring at me through the glass from the mall,
I truly felt like a german porn star that day.............mmmmmmm Uberporn lol
