MISTERQCUE

Not Just Anutha Brutha
Ruff & Rushed job with some panning and noise issues amongst other things.
A short cover of Aretha Franklin's "Rock Steady" with an honest, but lame-@ss attempt at some lead/solo guitar work, so please don't laff to hard at my lack of skillz on git as it is not my forte!
:p

Anyway, here it is.

Didn't sound like no lame-@ass guitar playing to me Q, pretty slick i thought. Horn's were great!

Q-Cue I dl'ed this the day you ul'ed it (got it from NWR's front page... Jan 19th)! Wondered why you didn't post???

Thought it was kewl phat-->the opposite of crappy-@ss! Maybe the glassy lead sound you're using is a lil loud, but a real smooth jammy.

What synth you using? Love that double-time ride-cymbal in the bridges!

It has been determined that posting your j@mmies here is now MANDATORY

:p:D:);):eek::D:eek::p:D

nothing wrong with your guitar playing, in fact it was excellent.. only nit is the horns eventually got way too loud.. as did the crash cymbal imhop. Other than that, this is an infectious jammie jam my man!! great bass too.. Doug Wimbish style!

Okay, edjamacate me about how you get that bass sound. What's the gear, what's the chain?

Nice and tight, Q. (As the actress said to the bishop...)

Sexy guitar.

What's that thing that sounds like a melodica? An ocarina would sound better. :D No shit.

Yeah, this one's got my foot tapping. That bit at the end between the horns and the guitar coming in is just so cool. Good one, Q man.

you guitar playing sum bitch, you been holding out on everyone. could been more of it. lame-ass, my ass, you ass! this is great QQ. Killer all way around.

i have a complaint about the lead guitar.....it may need to com up a bit or have a tad compression....it gets lost a bit in short spurts......

also, that instrument that comes in at :50 I wasnt to wild about....the line was good, but somehow the tone didnt grab me.......

everything else about this jammie is slammin' and will be burnt to CD on my Gidge Productions label immediately with no royalties going to you....another example of a white record exec screwing a brutha.....
:D

and dobro, i have a feeling that 95% of that bass tone (that is just awesome) is in Q's fingers.....

and now that they are laughing at your jammie, Q, maybe theyll stop laughing at mine.......:D :D :D :D

and as Chad said, further and more frequent posting of your jammies IS MANDATORY.........

That is one smooth jam Q!Funkin my ass off to it right now.You have a really good stereo spread on the recording too.It sounds great.Nice all the way around dude. What kind of drums are you using?

Good job Q!

Hey there QQ. Could you enable downloads on your nowhere page? Streaming from nowhere has been sucking for me.

At any rate, this is a very nice sounding recording. The low end is just excellent, and to perhaps answer dobro's question, seems to be 99% good technique. You really locked on to that kick to praduce da funk!

Panning issues yeah...ahhhhhh, cowbell stuck in my left ear!!!! :) Some level issues as well...horns sounded great but they were really duking it out for the lead role. Were they canned? Sounded a tad canned, but even so they're real good sounds!

I thought your guitar playing was really nice...but I have a feeling you were a little unsure of yourself from the start. I think you should just trust yourself and let it rip....it was just missing that little edge of confidence. The tone potential is definately there and your chops are there!

Oh, I do have to add one real negative...I didn't like the suburban jazz synth sounds too much. Just personal taste though.

Hey Que,
Man, I am sick as a dog..... and pretty much stuck to the bed. I'll be back to check this out later........for sure!!!!

I never miss new Que!!:)

Nice programming Misterqcue, good guitar solo too.

I agree about the one weird midi sound.

It's a very 80's commercial sound.
Good one.

smoove. I really like that piano sound. bass/drums watchband tite. Guitar was cool, You could stroke out some wahwah watkins on that tune just fine. You already got a funk button! :)

Overall sound is great. No need to apologize for any of those guitar parts. I, too was somewhat disturbed by those "suburban synth tones" but what the heck! And that one bass flub should have been punched over. (1:34)

What it is What it is What it is! Nice bass sound. Funk me up!

groovy....man that cowbell sounds sweet..
good lord how many layers of percussion are on this mutha?!?!
horns YES!!!!!!!!..man im bobbin and weavin.......

...man my neck hurst after that.....

David,part-i-pants,Black Sab,Kramer,Toki, twist; thankyou all kindly!

dobro-ther- Bass to ART TPS DI'd to board. Gracias`!

Gidge-mo- Yeah man, I was trying to replicate a hammond feel, but could not find rite patch. As far as bass, there is no eq or efx
involved as I TRY to maintain tone & intonation by finger techniques. Thx!
dtb-my skillz (or lack of) on git is apparent as I was afraid of trying to go beyond what I did here for fear of screwin' it up! I'm
NOWHERE near your level of expertise!!!Thanx!

Slack- Yeah, I kinda' figgerd the synth wasn't happenin!
For horns, I ran a Yammy key thru a Roland XP module and double-tracked each alto, tenor and trumpets, and since I LUV
"Tower of Power"-type horns, I tend to overdue 'em by upping the gain and boosting hi-end eq by a db or 2! My "canned-kit" is a Roland DR202 and I tend to pad the cymbals a lil too much! Thankyou!

Guernica- Hope you get well soon!

jake-owa- No programming whatsoever! Synth horns, keys & drums done 1 track at a time! To d@mn lazy to use any sequencing programs!

Agreed doc! You know I'm old skool and luv that full-band instrumentation! Bass flub came when my cig fell outta' my mouth
onto my lap!!! Thx!

Jammin' Jamal- Yeah! the was me trying to do some lead! Thankyou!:)

Not too surprising!I watched you play every instrument, very well,in one night!
KICK ASS Q!That clean, funky guitar was AWESOME!Bass was also excellent!
Gotta echo the sentiment about the horns, though I believe they only need to be tamed in the mix!Great programming, btw!
Great to see you post an MP3,please do so more often.
p.s.We should find something to collaborate on!!!!!

Much appreciated Beezeee!
Right now, I'm workin' on a "conceptual" cover of one of YOUR jammies!!;)

A collabo' is a most excellent idea!!!

Skip the coke! On Aug 8th, you gits' Champagne!!!!!!:)

Man.. don't apologize for the guitar! It was perfect, especially at the fade out!

I dig the horns, especially the crescendo build at the beginning.

And damn.. that bass is tight with them drums..

Excellent!
