Trailing Behind Again
I am looking beyond that fact that this song is so cliched and overdone, so...
The first thing that strikes me is that you have a hard limiter on the whole track. It's not really evident until the drums and bass kick in, and you get that tell-tale clipping distortion over the whole track.
I can tell that the song was tracked properly, so you should do your friend a favor and not get sucked into the loudness war. Take all that crap off there and mix it without it.
If I am wrong, and you don't have it on there, then you are mixing things waaay too hot.
