So I finally upgraded my marshall solidstate small amp and got a tube amp with a 12 inch speaker. I absolutely love and it have been practicing with it for hours on end. I have to pry myself away to make sure I eat.
My conclusion after having used it a bunch now is that a tube amp is definitely worth having. It seems to be a bit easier on the ears allowing you to listen for longer kind of like how vinyl records are. Especially using the bass and mid pickups on my strat, which I do most of the time.
However I'm not really sure that its as better as a solidstate as its hyped up to be. Strangely I feel that there are certain sonic qualities of solid state that I find myself missing that I can't quite put my finger on, the same way the old school tube only proponents are but in reverse.

I'm glad you found an amp that gives you a tone that suits you. You're right that the argument about s/s versus tubes is stupid sometimes. The point is always to get the tone you need. Don't get rid of your little Marshall practice amp. You'll likely find that it's perfect for something you're doing someday.

I don't have anything solid state in my arsenal, but I have several very different amps. They all get played. There is not now, nor has there ever been, one perfect tone. There is only what sounds right to you.

The amp is at least as important to your sound as the instrument.
