I'm going to start making my own cables and I bought 120' of Canare cable from Markertek. I need to find the 45 degree angle connector (at the mic) end but they're hard to find. Anyone know where I can find them?

Also, though I already placed the order and probably should've asked this before I did so, how many conductors should the wire have?

Thanks,

RF

Sennheiser,

I'm having problems with that link....is it right?

Thanks....

I found em but they are a difficult site! I can't find a picture of the products I'm looking for. Any other places?

Thanks,

RF

I'm there now in another window. I'm checking for you. I'll be right back.

I don't know why the link doesn't work. It didn't work for me either.

They don't have them. I looked at several pages of XLR connectors, but all I saw other than straight was 90 degree.

I don't think I've ever seen a 45 degree XLR connector.

I agree. The site is a PITA to get around. If you don't know the part number you have to page through the catalog.

Yeah..... I seen them in a picture once and they were being used on toms. The were cool because you didn't have to worry too much about the cymbals being so close to the toms and the addition 3-4 inches of extra connector and mic wire being hit when the cymbal rocks back and forth.

Thanks,

RF

I know what you mean. My mic/cable connector combo is a little over 14" long.

I have visited about a dozen different sites, but I can't find one.

Most of the sites I visited have exactly the same connectors as Mouser carries. Here is the search result. You may want to have a look yourself.

ITT-Cannon used to make 45deg XLRs, but I haven't seen any of those in the flesh in 10 years... See if you can find a full-line Cannon vendor.

I just came from their website.

They have a LOT of high-end connectors, but no 45 or even 90 degree XLR.

Thanks for the mfg info though.

I might have to go back and see what else they have. It looked like a lot of aerospace and communications related products.

Assuming you got the quad, it should have 4 conductors (plus the shield). If you got the super flexible "live" stuff it's probably 2 conductor (plus shield).

Use a pair for each post, and connect the shield to ground (typically).

Oh, and switchcraft makes your right angle connectors (in fact all of their connectors are great). I think the right angle XLR connectors are part # R3F and R3M (where 3 = three conductor and M = male F = female). For standard XLR the part numbers you need are A3F and A3M.

Call any local electronics supply shop, I bet they'll stock them. Otherwise, look em up at markertek.

OK, I'm a little confused now.

Were you looking for a 45 or a 90 degree angle connector???

oh!:o

45...46....90 whatever it takes! :D

I meant 90....sorry about that!

I just got my cables and I'm ready to make them. This stuff looks killer and as it turns out, there's a dealer for all the connectors within a mile of where I work.

Holy shitola!!
These 90 degree connectors are $20 ea.
I guess I can live with straight ones!:D
