I have one,
Used it on voices mostly, it's great, it has a very wide cardioid pattern, making it good for a room microphone.

In voice over compared it to : Studio project B1 and neumann KM184.

The AT3035 was the winner, in my situation.

ugh then whys i sounding echoed man
Like i dunno if i just don't have my settings on my interface set right but it sounds really bad and i was wondering if anyone could help me for like 10 mins?

That's your monitoring chain or some other kind of latency issue. It's not the mic.

I'm not the guy to help with getting rid of latency, but if you want some help, you're going to need to list every single thing in your recording chain, including the type of software you're using, what kind of computer you have, what kind of interface you're using...everything.

comp - HP media center PC m 1080n
interface - fast track pro
program - cool edit 2.0
mic - audio technica AT3035 I also have a good connecter piece

I was also given an output i think there output plugs there red and white and the guy said to hook them up but i don't know where they go, i asume the red and white one go into the back of the fast track pro but then the other side? no clue...and also i had a lot cheaper stuff befoe like 300 dollars and none of that and it sounded better than this

Maybe i have the dials set wrong? or something.... the mix, level and output dials? but i played with them a lot allready.

Make sure the mic is pointed in the right direction.

Microphone -> Fast track pro inputs -> Fast track pro outputs (RCA I think) -> Monitors or amp. I think the Fast Track pro already has a built in amp for monitors.

What kind of monitors do you have? And how exactly do you have everything hooked up?

How close are you to the mic when you record?

When does it sound 'echoey'? While listening to what you're recording? Or when playing back something that was already recorded?

Yeah the fast track pro has built in pre amps.

but yeah, the RCA cords in the back arn't plugged in cause I don't know where the other end plugs into and what do you mean by moniters? Sorry I'm really new to all this and sorry for the dumb questions.

What kind of monitors (speakers) are you using to listen? Or are you using headphones?

And when do you hear the 'echoey' sound? While recording something or when listening to something that has already been recorded?

So you compared apples and Fords and liked the Grand Canyon better?

^haha, good point.

i use a 3035, i've had it for like 7 years and i still use it often on acoustic guitars. i've always liked it and it has certainly taken a lot of shit over those 7 years and still performs like the day i bought it.

Nah. That's extreme. All three of 'em are microphones.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Big Kenny again.

rofl.

I have 2 of them. Have used them to record vocals, acoustic guitar & mando. I also often use them playing out live. They work great in quieter venues with careful setup. Excellent large condeneser mics for the $.

Wow, very nice attitude.

I come in, tell you my experience with the mic (compared it to other mics and everything) and you come in like a mad boy...

Why didn't you just ask: Why does it sounds echoed when I try recording...

I know this is homerecording.com but there is a NEWBIE section...

English not beeing my first language, I am not sure to truly understand your statement, but let me put it this way:

I compared the 3035, the B1 AND the 184.

The 3035 was cool, that's all folks.

All I'm saying is those three mics are so different, they are difficlut to compare. Glad you like your mic...

I had one and sold it, the 4040 or the 4033 are very nice though.

I keep hearing about the AT4040, it sounds like a versatile mic. Are the 40 series a fair bit better than the 30 ???
