If you really take the time and be patient with your questions you can learn so much from TweakHeadz Lab. I've been sitting here starting from the very beginning and soaking in as much information as I can.. I have zero recording equipment still, but I feel it's just as important to understand how everything works before you get it. I think every question I've asked on here has been answered already in this guide. (Besides personal preference of the users on here)

So, I urge all newbies(like me), read Tweakheadz Lab guide beginning to end. I think if you really want to know what you're doing there are no shortcuts and you will benefit greatly from this. DO IT

, not because I want to dent a perfect score but because it can be hard to know how something works just by reading about it. It's hard enough when you have it !
That's not a criticism by the way. It may be more to do with my experience and how hard I found things to understand ! I think what you've said is gold dust; alot more people starting out on this journey could do with arming themselves with knowledge.

Oh yeah for sure nothing is better than getting your hands dirty, and read when you get stuck or when you arent doing anything else.

I understand what you're saying, grim. ^_^ I know a lot of people have to pick things up and the understanding will come with time. I know that will also be the case with myself. Usually hands on is the only way to fully understanding. For now all I have is the web to understand ^_^. I probably won't have any equipment for another 3 months, but I want to learn everything that will help me til then since it's all I have.(such as the importance of acoustically treating the room and high and upper mid freqs as opposed to low end and low mid freqs)

Thank you for the compliment. I actually felt pretty smart yesterday(though I know I've got a long way to go). I went to a local pawn shop and was in a conversation with another customer in the music section. We got into how I was prepping myself to start a home recording studio and he was asking question I had no too long ago asked myself. So, I got to explain how you might need an LDC for one thing and dynamic for another. The concept of mixerless recording with audio interfaces. Why I needed monitors instead of those huge speakers that were in front of us. It felt good to be on the helping side for once. Anyway, enough of that. I'm super psyched and exert all my extra time and energy into this. I doubt I'll come out sounding like a commercial studio, but I know I've got to start somewhere. CAN I GET A WITNESS?!
