Just a Jam.....

Good acoustic sound on the rhythm guit. Real clean and rich. You could get a good melody line over this (hint hint).

I'd say to bring up the lead guitar part just a bit. Maybe the bass too. The bass part is the slightest bit muddy in certain spots. Maybe a very small EQ cut at 300 or so.

I liked it.

A cool, chilling tune. and the guitar tone is really good, too. Since I am listening on PC monitors right now, the lows sound a little boomy. If you didn't, I would cut some lows below 100 or so.

And yeah, bring the lead guitar up, I would like to hear it better.

Taylors are sooo cool. Cool jam. Sounds smooth.

Do you mean a Vox melody??? please....inform the ignorant..(that's me :D )..........
Thanks for the advice on the mix man....I am on my 13th hour at the factory at the moment but, I will adjust it when my ears come back to me....
Thanks again...

You to A1A2.....thanks man...good advice.....
I suppose I should never try to mix after tracking for a few hours....

Hey Track Rat..........
Glad you dug it man....
My new Taylor is super sweet...
just as sweet a sound as my Martin 000-18 (circa 1969)....but a tad more intense in the highs I think.........
take it easy man,
Joe

I liked the sound of the guitar. Must be new strings ? My Taylor 310 never seems to come across that agressively though. I almost find new strings too much sometimes ? I'd say your tunes worth working on, just need some structure and some words now. I did something similar the other night.. maybe I'll post it tomorrow.

Keep it up

Hey Joro,
This is the first thing ive had a chance to hear from ya..... ...very cool. This gives me a strong Led Zep vibe that i like alot....... ......oh yeah, keep on it....... .....it'll be a nice one. The acoustic sounds great!!

Taylor`s have a knack of sounding smooth and the strings balanced. That mic you used did a good job of reproducing it all. That lil jam tune could become a cool piece of listening material with a little planning on the structure. I want a Taylor but the pocketbook says settle for a silvertone. :)

nice sounds man.. sorta Zeppelinish, ya know?..

you can definitely turn this into a good tune with vocals.. the guitars sound good.. the melodys got confused a few times, but I know this was just a jam.. so get crackin'! :D

---EDIT---:D I just saw Guernica mentioned Led Zep..

Thanks all...

Hey Dres....strings are 4 days old....
friggin' bridge pins didn't want to stay put...it took a while...
I put on Martin Marquis'...had elixers from the factory on it before...I will probably go back the next trime to elixers....less squeaks....ya know?
I will be looking for your tunage tonight man...Gotta go to the factory now and earn my daily bread....

Hey Guernica,
Thanks man... I hear that my stuff sounds "Zepp-ish" from a lot of folk...Zep definitely influenced me when I was a kid....
Glad you liked the Jam...the new mic is pretty cool....

dtb!!
Man oh man...coming from a dude of your playing stature I am a little bit embarressed....Thanks man....

Toki,
Yeah man...the Taylor is sweet....wicked nice playin' guit....
I am gonna definitely work on the structure and write some lyrics now...you guys have inspired me....thanks...

Hi Sam,
Definitely gonna work on it man...
Thanks for the listen and comments...
I appreciate it dude....

I re-mixed this morning and put up a new version called "Just a Jam Mix#2"....got rid of a couple of those nasty squeaks....
tweaked the lead and the bass....now you can really hear all my skrew ups....

Thanks for lending me your ears fellas.....
The best ears on the net are right here at HR.com.....ya know?
Later,
Joe

joro, very nice, the bass sounds great on my system. The taylor is so sweet. I'm playing the mando with it as I listen. yeah man.

To answer your question - yes I meant a vocal melody line. Sorry for being unclear.

Yeah vocal needed for sure.

The NT1 can work quite well on acoustics, I've had luck with it at times.

Depending what you do with the rest of the song, it's hard to make any suggestions. If it isn't going to have vocals, you need to work out those lead guitar melody parts. If it is going to have vocals, then you know the scene.

The rhythm sounds a little, small. Not saying it needs to be dominating, just needs some more dimension. Leads are a bit loud though which has an effect on that.

I think vocals would be the best direction for this. You have some cool melody ideas on the guitars that could be tied into various sections of the song.

Retro, and cool!

Thanks guys for the good advice....I am definitely gonna work on it....

Thanks again all...
Joe

Wonderful sound!

I can tell it is a jam waiting for more and there is alot of space here for some words. all the guitar parts have a rich smooth and CLEAN sound.

Sounds like sitting on a couple stumps and having a drink!
I like the feel!!
Used to do this with my bros in the old days!

Really nice!
Joel
