Hi there,

I just swapped out the stock PUs in my 95 LP-Studio (all mahogany) with Kent Armstrong "distortion" (neck) and "ultradistortion"(bridge) ... and its def. a step upwards ...

signal chain: LP-Studio - red cable - Sovtek Mig-60 :D

PRO'S:
-very heavy sound (kindalike "rectified" if you know what I mean),
-they clean up *very* well - i can go all the way down to "0" w/ the volume knob and really get clean/overdriven signal w/out getting muddy or loose tone
-better definition ... strumming a cord distorted, makes it easier to identify the single notes ... its more noticable if you add a note to a chord (say, you strumm: E5,E5,E5,Em,E5)
-like the price of $55,- for the combo ...
-not harsh/brittle at all, yet the ultradistortion "cuts like a knife"
- very sweet sustain and very controllable feedback (they seem to feedback sooner than the original ones, tho ... the original ones were behind the brass-shield)

CON's
-not very bass heavy (both) - I have to EQ more bass in to get a similar sound as before - but on the other hand, once the amp is dialed in the bass is VERY sweet ... no mud at all
- they seem to have less presence than the B.Lawrence L-350 (i have in another LP), but those are twice the price - otherwise they are a very close contentor (i'd say the BL are more 70ies hard rock, whereas the KA are more 80ies rock)

hope this helps
alfred
