Hey guys.
I am almost completely ignorant to the world of acoustic treatment, but recently as I've had no money I have decided to have ago building just some simple tiles. Ive got a way to build the frames and everything, Im not really sure what to fill it with though? Take into account that I live in england and we dont really get any of this 703 stuff . . . to my knowlage. So Im just wantng to know what stuff will work.
I went into B&Q (DIY chain) last night to look for some wood to by the frames and I started looking at all the insulation stuff. And I think It was all insulation products, like polysirene, big rolls of wool stuff and some pig pannels of what I can only say looks like 703 from what I have seen in the videos. But it was as solid as a wall, It looked like it was made from fibre glass.
Just as a reference* would this stuff be at all usefull? http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=10186451&fh_view_size=10&fh_start_index=10&fh_eds=%3f&fh_location=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB%2fcategories%3c%7b9372016%7d%2fcategories%3c%7b9372050%7d%2fcategories%3c%7b9372229%7d&fh_refview=lister&ts=1279974999419&isSearch=false
Maybe foolishly I baught some really really cheap foam, which Is quite dence, like seating foam. cut it up and hun it on the wall, Would this have and advantage? If it does could I layer up a piece of that foam with some of the insulation pannel and have a decent diffuser?
Other questions that come to mind now are. . . what is the purpose of say bass traps vs difusers? how can I figure out where to hang these things to achive the best result, reguardless my studio Is still my bedroom so I need the space to serve both purposes.
